John O'Gaunt Inn Wins "Rural Pub of the Year" Award

The East Bedfordshire branch of the "Campaign for Real Ale" CAMRA have awarded the John O'Gaunt Inn at Sutton with the prestigeous title of "Rural Pub of the Year 2009" landlord Les Ivall was quoted as saying "I am really quite proud of this award" and rightly so.

A real gem. A proper country pub offering reasonable food, with great guest beers always available. Cozy, full of locals and with darts, old fashioned bar skittles inside and a pentanque area in the delightful garden at the back. If you like the traditional country inn then this pub is for you. A frequently changing selection of real ales and 'real' cider) The food is excellent; all freshly prepared and cooked by the landlord's wife (apparently much of the ingredients are locally sourced) and very reasonably priced too. The 'pub garden' is strewn with lovely old apple trees and at the very back a petanque pitch overlooks farmland: If you visit in the winter you can always warm yourself by one of the two real fires whilst playing darts or bar skittles.
